Angela Ortiz brings over two decades of diverse experience in commercial real estate, specializing in financing, property and asset management, distressed asset resolution, and court-appointed roles. Since joining Besen Partners in 2004, she has held key positions managing a portfolio of over 60 income-producing properties. As a broker, Angela has overseen the financing and refinancing of multifamily, mixed-use, and development properties across the New York Tri-State area.

Earlier in her career, Angela worked in institutional lending at Equitable Life, NatWest Bank—where she was credit trained—and M&T Bank. She later transitioned into acquisitions at Kushner Companies and served as a financial consultant to Harold Fetner on luxury residential developments in NYC.

Angela has extensive experience with distressed assets, serving as a Receiver, Referee, and Broker for Besen’s Distressed Asset Advisory Group (DAAG) and is approved by the NYS Office of Court Administration (OCA) for such appointments since 2010. She has also served as an Arbitrator for FINRA since 2001.

Her leadership roles include over a decade of service with the Young Mortgage Bankers Association (YMBA)—as Chairperson and Governor—and active participation with the Young Men’s/Women’s Real Estate Association (YMWREA).

Angela holds a M.S. in Commercial Real Estate Finance & Investment from New York University, is a Licensed NYS Real Estate Broker, and a Notary Public.

Outside of real estate, Angela is passionate about health and wellness. A certified yoga instructor (OM Yoga NYC and Laughing Lotus), she leads individualized Vinyasa and Hatha sessions for employees and clients, integrating meditation practices as well. She has taught corporate yoga for over 15 years and is a longtime member of Yoga Alliance.
